Friday nights at Webb's Country Kitchen is "open mic" night hosted by Lois Gilbert. Traditional Mountain String Music,
Acappella Gospel, even occasional "Hog Callin" goes with Down Home Cookin'. Song Swappin', when pickers gather in,
is full of surprises, singin' along is encouraged. You can even play your spoons if you like. There's a wash board
in the wall that may become the rhythm section! You won't hear drums or electric.
This is totally unplugged music like our Great-Grandparents used to play. History mixes with the "now" as the evening begins with "Cumberland Gap".
Next, an original "Songs About the Mountains" that expresses the spirit of "Pickin' in the Gap". Join in with
"Rock Salt and Nails" then some gospel. Sue Webb may lead "Will the Circle be Unbroken" if she's got the
grill cleaned.
Various performers may be heard, civil war ballads, original material, even a few old Nashville hits may creep in.
Some evenings evolve into traditional song swap where musicians sit in a circle taking turns calling the next song
while others accompany or just listen. Preserving the sustaining music of our mountain heritage feeds our soul in
the electronic age of rush, push and shove,
helps us take time out to breath deep, relax and contemplate and maybe make it easier to go to work on Monday, one more time!Join us and see if you like it. If you don't - at least the food is good and the pickin' is only one night a week! If it feels good, come back and bring a friend to Friday Night - "Pickin' in the Gap".
Local talent appears at Webb's Country Kitchen every Saturday night for some of the best Bluegrass music you'll hear anywhere, anytime and that's an a-number-one fact!
If you don't reckon it's so, then come on out to Webb's Country Kitchen in Cumberland Gap on any Saturday night and find out for yourself.
If you like Bluegrass music, we are absolutely positive you won't be disappointed. And the food can't be beat. So, how can you lose?
Come out to Webb's and enjoy good food, good music, and an evening of pure fun!
